Continuing Education Workshop Overview

Workshop Descriptions

  • Intensive hands-on live training for personal trainers

  • Workshops currently held in Aliso Viejo, CA
  • Training Made Fun continuing education workshops are 1-day intensive hands on trainings. Each workshop will provide greater, more in depth detailed information and applicable skills development beyond the personal fitness trainer certification workshop. It is not required that students be currently certified to take these workshops.
The goal is to provide higher level and more specific skills and abilities training in each of the areas offered.

Details This workshop will define the purposes and benefits of the primary macro and micronutrients and their timing and usage. We will discuss, at length, the benefits and risks of nutrition management of your client’s program. In the end, you will leave with a greater understanding of how to relate to your client’s current lifestyle/nutrition choices, and how to best help them to improve their nutritional habits to assist your exercise programming for weight loss, muscle/size gain, or athletic/personal performance.

Details This workshop will provide an understanding of the differences between functional and other types of training and how to best utilize functional concepts within the scope of any program goal.
Each student will learn how to better apply functional concepts for purposes of performance and injury avoidance for each client.
Trainers will leave the workshop with a greater ability to evaluate specific functional needs and the ability to prescribe safer, more efficient, and more effective exercise options.

Details This workshop will provide an understanding of the differences between the various flexibility types and when and how to use them appropriately
Each student will have the opportunity to experience each type of flexibility as it applies to each of the major joint areas and muscles of the body.
Trainers will leave the workshop with a greater ability to evaluate specific flexibility needs and the ability to prescribe safer, more efficient, and more effective flexibility options.

You will be required to name the club location, the name of your current fitness manager, and state your employee number (if you have one) at phone registration. You can also use the corporate code given to you by your company or the company referring you, if they are at one of the organizations listed above, to make your discounted purchase online.

Following paid registration online or by phone, each registrant will receive a confirmation email noting the date, location, time, and what to expect at each workshop. Handouts will be provided at each workshop with basic workshop content for note taking.

What should I bring with me to the workshop?

Please wear athletic clothing as participation is highly recommended, but not required. Bring a pen or pencil for note taking as handouts will be provided for you onsite the day of the workshop.

Refunds

Full refunds are granted 15 days or more prior to your originally scheduled workshop.

No refunds will be given where cancellation occurs within 15 days of any originally scheduled workshop (regardless of timing of purchase).

Refunds will be granted by email request only to [email protected] 15 or more days prior to the originally scheduled workshop.

If you agree to a transfer to a future workshop at the same or another location, at any time, for any reason, there are no refunds.

Transfers

Transfers will be granted with prior written notice to [email protected] in advance of your originally scheduled workshop date (failing to show up without prior notice releases all possibility for transfer or refund).

Transfers are only granted when requested in writing to [email protected] prior to the originally scheduled workshop and are only valid for either 90 days, or for the next scheduled workshop at the same location, whichever comes last. If you agree to a transfer to a future workshop at the same or another location, at any time, for any reason, there are no refunds.

Any transfer request for a workshop date/location that has been both more than 90 days and after at least one other scheduled workshop at the same location will only be granted by paying a $75 transfer fee. This $75 fee will grant another 90 days or until the next scheduled workshop at the same location, whichever comes last.

Exchanges to Another Attendee

Attendee name transfers are not allowed within 15 days of the workshop, but will otherwise be granted upon written request from the paying party to [email protected]

12:30-12:50 Common injuries and risks for older adults and exercise options for prevention and coping
12:50-1:10 Assesments, flexibility, and mobility for the OA
1:10-1:25 Proper warm-up and cool down activities (FITTR) for the OA
1:25-1:45 Cardiovascular and strength programming periodization for the OA
1:45-1:55 Break
2:00-3:00 Hands-on exercise application for flexibility, mobility and strength training for the OA
